Mission Shaped Ministry Course. Cambridgeshire & Suffolk starting September 2011

The new course will begin September 24th 2011 so you need to book in soon. If you are leading a fresh expression or wanting to or thinking about starting something new this is the course for you. It will give you all the theological & practical tools you need to begin and develop a fresh expression. If you interested in geeting going this is unmissable! The course consists of 4 Saturdays and 8 Tuesday evenings and is open to lay people & clergy. It is ideal for a leadership group from a church to attend. Breakout Pioneers Conference. 21-3rd Sept

This is the national Pioneers Conference for all pioneering, ordained and lay from all denominations. It is a great opportunity for pioneers to gather to support, encourage and learn from each other. There was also be input from Jonny Baker from CMS.

Pioneer School. Starting October 2011

This is a unique learning experience for pioneers who are in ministry to resource and support you. Organised by the Centre for Pioneer Learning it comprises 6 Saturdays from Oct 2011 to May 2012.The morning has input from national experts such as Paul Weston, Sylvia Collins Mayo and Phil Meadows and the afternoon hub discussion, reflection, prayer and worship.

 Changing the Landscape Day Conference. Friday 6th May, Oxford

A national day conference exploring how the mixed economy can thrive in deaneries, circuits and synods. Working towards a church in which tradition and dynamism, established ministry and fresh expressions of church inform, energise and complement each other.Hosted by Stephen Lindridge and Graham Cray, with a keynote address from Rowan Williams and interviews with practitioners, pioneers and those working with them, the day will also include plenty of round table discussion and the latest Fresh Expressions learning, thinking and resources. 24-7 Prayer will surround the day with a reflective prayer environment and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

This new book which is a critique of fresh expressions has caused some controversy.

It is important that the fresh expression movement is critiqued to ensure it develops. The book is worth reading and it makes some good points then need to be considered but you may find it also has some major deficiencies.

 

Cave Refectory Road: Canterbury Press by Ian Adams

Monastic Rhythms for contemporary living, a new book by Fresh Expressions practitioner Ian Adams looking at how the contemplative tradition may be a vital resource for the future church. The success of BBC 2’s The Big Silence seems to bear this out.

This is ideal for parishes wanting to think about being mission shaped.

Putting together a worship service introducing fresh expressions of church and mission-shaped thinking can be a time consuming exercise. Now a new resource from Fresh Expressions is available to help you plan a tailor-made mission-shaped service at the touch of a button.

mission shaped congregations: re-imagining church is an interactive DVD-ROM in which material can be mixed and matched from four different streams - each with its own distinctive style or flavour. It incorporates video clips, a PowerPoint presentation, liturgy in various traditions, prayers, a sermon outline, and a children's talk. Follow-up material for use in midweek meetings, house groups, church councils or PCC meetings is also provided.

The DVD-ROM requires a PC/Mac DVD drive for full functionality, although the video sequence can be viewed on a standard DVD player. It works in a similar way to a website shopping cart in that items can be selected from the service elements listed on a menu: these include Welcome and introduction, Opening prayer, Praise and adoration, Confession and absolution, Collect, Credal hymn or song, Intercession, and Eucharist.

Mission Shaped Ministry Course.

After a really successful first year the new course for Suffolk and Cambs started  September 19th.We now have another 40 people on this new course. We will be running another course in 2010/11. The course consists of 8 Tuesday evenings and 4 Saturdays and aims to train people to set up and sustain fresh expressions.

Welcome to the July/ August issue of our monthly email which is packed full with information and news about fresh expressions. Its aim is to keep us informed of what is going on with news, views, ideas and resources. Fresh Expressions and the Sacraments Day Conference Saturday 12th September, 10am-4pm Milton Church Hall,

with Maggi Dawn. (cost £5)

 

This is the Ely Diocese’s annual day conference (which is open to all denominations etc)  We will be looking at the vital area of the role of the sacraments in developing fresh expressions of church.

We will look at issues like what are the sacraments for, what can you do and how might you use communion creatively. There will be talks, workshops and seminars.

Shaped Ministry Course.After a really successful first year the new course starts September 19th. This is a course not to miss.
